A love song to Australia is one of Charbel Baini's books translated by Paul Abdul Ahad

COFFS HARBOUR

-1-

Abla was driving the car

While my mind was occupied

With the green banana fields

Which were saying

Here you are

Come and taste

You're welcome in and we're out

Our visitor has the right

The (Big Banana)

Stood with its lovely figure

Taking my eye's pupil as its mirror

Undressing itself for me

And Abla is saying to me

Hold your breath

-2-

Coffs Harbour

We'll never forget it

We lit three candles

We celebrated our anniversary

Wrote it with our tears as a song

And drew magnificent pictures of it

On its spoiled sand

Which climbed up to Abla's waist

Trying to hide her

And go further and further up
